Keyboard shortcuts in 320px
Press ? in your workspace to see the shortcuts. They’re ignored while you type in a field or the composer. Escape leaves the search field; in the composer it does nothing, so your text is never lost.
Moving around
- /
- Search or ask (in the command bar)
- j
- Next email
- k
- Previous email
- Enter
- Open the selected email
- Esc
- Leave the search field, or go back to the selected email in the list
Acting on the open email
- r
- Reply
- e
- Archive and open the next email (in Archive: move it back to the Inbox)
- u
- Mark as read or unread (not in Sent or Drafts, which have no read state)
- Shiftj
- Mark as read and open the next email
Writing and asking
- CtrlEnter
- Send the email (in the composer) or ask the question (in the command bar). ⌘ Enter on a Mac.

Turning shortcuts off
You can turn single-key shortcuts off in Settings, under Keyboard. Escape and Enter still work.
