Setting up email on your own domain
Custom domains are included in Standard and Premium. A workspace owner manages them in Settings › Domains and mailboxes.
Open domain settingsAdding a domain
- Add a domain you control. Email stays with your current provider until you change the domain’s MX records.
- Publish the ownership TXT record Settings shows; its name starts with _320px-verification. Then choose Check DNS records. DNS changes can take time to appear. We remove unverified domains after 7 days.
- Once the domain is verified, add the sending and receiving records Settings shows you, MX records among them, and check again. Settings says when the sending and receiving records are ready.
Keep the records in place so your domain stays connected.
Mailboxes and invitations
Create a mailbox on your domain for someone already in the workspace, or invite a person by email. They can choose a sign-in name and password, or sign in to an existing 320px account, and their mailbox is created when they accept. An invitation link expires after 7 days; you can create a new link, and the previous one stops working.
Each person, owners included, reads only the email in the mailboxes assigned to them. Changing a mailbox’s owner removes the previous owner’s access and forwarding setup, and its new owner then reads its emails.
Removing a domain
Choose Remove domain. Access is disabled while we remove the email routes; if removal is still pending, try again.
Email on your own domain describes custom domains for small teams, and workspaces and members what owners can change.
