Searching your email and asking it questions
Search by keyword
Type in the search field at the top of your workspace, or press / to go there. Keyword search finds emails that contain all your words, across your Inbox and Archive, newest first.
- Put words in quotes to find them together, such as “oak worktop”.
- Put a minus sign before a word to leave out emails that contain it, such as -invoice.
- Put or between two words to find emails with either of them.
Keyword search has no limit and doesn’t use your question allowance.
Open searchSearch by meaning
When the words don’t match, also search by meaning from the results page to find related emails. You can search by meaning 60 times an hour in each workspace. After that, searches use keywords until earlier searches are more than an hour old.
Ask a question
Ask sends the same words as a question: type it in the search field and press Ctrl Enter, or ⌘ Enter on a Mac. Ask finds up to 8 relevant emails you can access and answers in up to 4 short points, each with the exact words it relies on and a link to the email. Quotes are checked against the email text, and points without a match are left out. When your emails disagree, the answer says so; when they don’t answer the question, Ask says so and shows the emails it looked through.
Check the original email before relying on an answer. You can ask 20 questions an hour in each workspace, and each answer shows how many are left. You can reopen up to 50 of your latest answers in each workspace for up to 24 hours.
